The Love of a Dog

Every morning you wake up

To greet your favourite friend.

You cuddle and you kiss him

And tell him all the things in your heart.

He listens intently,

You Love Him and he Loves You.

You take him to the park

He doesn’t care what you look like,

How you dress,

How you smell,

How tall, short, fat or thin,

What job you have,

How much you earn.

He just listens with his soulful eyes,

And understands your pain,

And is always waiting when you need him

Always there to share your cares.

But as time passes,

Other exploits take up your days,

Work, parties, friends…..

And you don’t notice anymore,

His undivided love.

He waites for you every moment of the day.

And his devotion never wans.

And time passes and he grows tired,

And when it’s time to go,

You hold his dear old head in your hands,

And he doesn’t recognise you..
